I'm always looking to tell a story with these portraits. The little boy in the portrait above was performing a dance for the mission guests. Excited but a little shy.
The little girl above had received a bag with fabric to make a dress for her "new doll." Her grip on the doll and bag was fierce while the look on her face was so serious. Not what I would normally expect from a small child when receiving a gift.
